Three students from the iPrep Academy Downtown, participated in the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis Assistive Device Competition, at the Inaugural STEM Tech Olympiad 2012. The team, calling themselves the “iPrep Enablers,” created their invention: the iMove Transfer Board.

This assistive device was the result of many months of hard work and effort from the team and many mentors. MARC A. BUONICONTI, president of the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, sponsored this competition in which 8 public and private high schools took part. On Sunday, April 29th, 2012, the iPrep Enablers were awarded the “Outstanding Engineering Design” trophy. Now, the team will look into further enhancing their design, and possibly obtaining a patent for it, in order to market the iMove Transfer Board to rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, and hospitals.
